Leo Selavo has participated in the following projects relating to wireless sensor networks (WSN). Depending on the project his role was project lead, systrem's architecture or hardware aspects and design.

Selected research activities

Present projects

  • VieSenTIS - Centre for smart sensors and netted embedded systems: hardware architectures, software support, signal processing and biometrics. Project scientific lead at IECS Latvia.
    • This project captures EdiMote, BioSen, SenSigA, SAntArray, CarMote, and MansOS projects.


Past projects

  • MEDiSN - Medical Emergency Detection in Sensor Networks. Collaboration with Johns Hopkins University.
  • Code Blue - Wireless Sensors for Medical Care. Collaboration with Harvard University.
  • LiteOS - open source, interactive, UNIX-like operating system for wireless sensor networks. Joint effort with UIUC and other research groups.
  • LUSTER - Wireless Sensor Network for Environmental Research. Project lead at the University of Virginia.
  • AlarmNet - an Assisted-Living and Residential Monitoring Network for Smart Healthcare Research. At the University of Virginia.


Academic positions

Responsible for the Computer Engineering curriculum.


Invited talks

  • Invited talk at M.A.S.H. project at CEIT, Spain
  • Skovde and Halmstad Universities in Sweeden about WSN for health care and environmental research.
